I love this hilarious take on this meme by illustrator Kris Atomic. Peonies are up there on my list of favourite flowers, although right now, the peach-coloured poppies spotted in my neighbour’s garden have won the top spot. What is your favourite flower this time of year?

goodbye summer

Labour Day weekend is here, and to me, that marks the official end of summer. I love fall, so I’m not terribly sad. In fact, I’m looking forward to cool mornings, changing leaves and stick-to-your-ribs cooking. Is there anything better than a walk in the woods followed by a steaming cup of coffee in a turtleneck sweater…OK, maybe I’m getting a bit carried away. I’m still wearing a sundress. Hope you’re enjoying the long weekend!

beautiful everyday items

Katrina at Pugly Pixel is a genius. There is simply no other way to describe her ability to come up with amazing designs and ideas – all of which she  is willing to share with her readers. (Seriously, head over there right now to see what I mean.) Anyway, she’s done it again, and this time with microbeads and Starbucks. Behold.

When I walk home from work I love to see how other people bring their garden, porch or front door to life. I happen to like tacky pink flamingos, but I have to admit I like their golden counterparts even more. What is it about a can of gold spray paint that makes everything a little more interesting?

inch by inch, row by row

A month ago my boyfriend and I decided to get rid of our cheapie Ikea shoe rack after we found a better solution at the side of the road in an old wine crate. The entrance was lacking decor and our new solution filled up some space while being functional. We were both so happy it worked since it was a pain to carry home and up our three flights of stairs. Anyway, the wooden shoe rack has a new home outdoors holding planters. It doesn’t take up too much room and is sturdy enough to hold a few pots. Easiest Ikea hack ever? I think so.

trend: garden gnomes

I love the way gnomes seem to pop-up. The curious garden creatures say summer no matter your style.

The gnome peaking out of the corner is the “gnome suspension system” for this tea towel from Wannekes.
